How’s about schmoozing?
Networking can happen anywhere -- standing in line for a bus, at a child's soccer match -- but it's at events and social gatherings that you have a golden opportunity to meet those people who can help you advance your career. Working a party is not as easy as politicians and movie stars make it appear. Come with a plan, arrive early, be well-stocked with business cards and your 30-second personal ad and know where to stand.
“You don’t randomly go an event,” said Linda Baugh, president of Phoenix American Career Executives.
“The plan is to work the event, and your goal should be to have three to five new contacts,” Baugh said. “You should actively introduce yourself to people.”
