Employment agencies help take pain out of job search

A job search can be a daunting task, one that can tax even the most enthusiastic of job hunters. Creating a target list of companies, writing and rewriting a resume and cover letter, networking and going to interviews quickly gobble up energy, especially since the process often is filled with unfamiliar challenges. Employment agencies can help.

Job seekers still are very much a part of the search conducted at American Career Executives, President Linda Baugh said. The advantage of using a firm where the job seeker pays a fee is that you get genuine assistance, she said.

At her firm, career counselors spend hours with candidates to help them determine their best career path, coach them for more than 20 hours in techniques for job interviews and continue the relationship for three years.

“Our goal is the same, which is to have a match be made where that person ends up in a position that he wants,” she said. “We have no vested interest in where that is, so we can advise of the best options.”
